The climax to the FSO’s Centenary Season features two symphonies by Austrian composers: Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. The other work in the concert is the Purcell Chacony, written by contemporary British composer, Joby Talbot.

Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 3 (‘Scottish’)
The FSO’s Centenary Season opens the New Year with an homage to Scotland. Mendelssohn’s evocative Hebrides Overture opens the progamme, and his wonderful third symphony, the ‘Scottish’, closes it. The other work in the programme is the premiere of an orchestral piece by our Artistic Director, William Carslake, inspired by his camping trips in the Cairngorms.
