Bill Carslake becomes Honorary Patron

Bill Carslake, the FSO’s first Artistic Director, stepped down in 2025 and has become an Honorary Patron.

FSO Supports Making Music Anniversary

2025 marks the 90th Anniversary of Making Music, the organisation which provides resources and support for leisure-time music groups across the country. As part of their 90th anniversary celebrations, they decided to speak to some of their long-standing member groups.  Peter Birkett, former Chairman of the FSO, was interviewed by a representative of Making Music and the resulting article about Farnborough Symphony Orchestra’s story of community, continuity and ambition can be found here.

Farewell to Bill

After seven years as the Artistic Director of the FSO, Bill Carslake has announced that he is stepping down from his role. During his tenure, the orchestra has grown in ambition and artistry, exploring bold new repertoire, engaging with the wider community and raising the bar for what we can achieve together.
