The FSO opens the New Year with works by Franck, Korngold and the winner of the FSO Young Composer Competition 2020, Sam Gooderham. We also welcome back consummate violinist, So-Ock Kim, to play Erich Korngold’s popular violin concerto and guest conductor, Daniel Hogan, who is currently studying with a full scholarship for a Master’s in Conducting at the Royal College of Music.

The FSO begins its 2022-23 season with a birthday concert celebrating 100 years since the orchestra’s first performance on 13th December 1922. The opening work is Schubert’s Rosamunde Overture, which brims over with Schubert’s infectious melodies. Christian Paquette will play the Reinecke Flute Concerto and the concert concludes with Dvorak’s 8th Symphony.

The climax to the FSO’s Centenary Season features two symphonies by Austrian composers: Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 and Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. The other work in the concert is the Purcell Chacony, written by contemporary British composer, Joby Talbot.
