The FSO, along with many other arts organisations, has decided to cancel the final concert of the 2019-2020 season, which was scheduled to be at Princes Hall in Aldershot on 13th June. In the face of world-wide efforts to limit the spread of the virus, and to protect the most vulnerable in our communities over the coming weeks and months, this was not a difficult decision, but a sad one nonetheless.
The FSO is hugely grateful to its members, Friends and Sponsors, because of whom it has been able to honour in part its financial commitments to our Artistic Director and Leader despite writing off the final few months of the season. Like many people, the committee and players are finding new, virtual ways of keeping in touch and we intend to keep our community spirit alive and well with regular blog posts on our website, our monthly newsletter, and by sharing the huge number of concerts now being streamed across various internet channels.
The wonderful programmes we had lined up for March and June, and our Guest Conductor, the late Christopher McMullen-Laird, have not been forgotten either – we look forward to reprogramming much of the fantastic music we had planned. Planning for future seasons starts now . . .
