The Farnborough Symphony Orchestra has a wonderful opportunity for a clarinetist to join us as Principal Clarinet. You will take a prominent role in the well-established and highly valued woodwind section of the orchestra. The FSO gives four concerts a year at concert venues in Hampshire and Surrey, under the baton of professional conductor Bill Carslake and leader Julia Wilson. We are very friendly and enjoy playing a range of music from the classics to contemporary composers and we have some great repertoire planned for our 100th anniversary season in 2021-22. Under Bill’s artistic direction we are championing local and young musicians with our family concerts and composition competitions and we work with one or two guest conductors each season, giving us a chance to benefit from a huge range of musical expertise. We rehearse on Thursday evenings in Farnborough and, of course, pop to the pub afterwards (in normal times anyway). If you are interested in the role, do get in touch with us. In the first instance, we may invite you to attend an informal audition and participate in rehearsals on a trial basis. For further details please contact us here.
