The FSO is delighted to announce that two guest conductors, Howard Williams and Ben Palmer, will be presiding over the first two concerts of the 2014-15 season.
Howard is one of Britain’s most experienced conductors on the international platform, having covered a formidable range of work both in the opera house and concert hall, with a quite exceptionally large and broadly-based symphonic repertoire and over seventy opera titles to his credit. He will be conducting the FSO's first concert of the new season on 15th November in Princes Hall, Aldershot.
Ben is well known to recent FSO audiences, having conducted the 90th Birthday Prom Concert and the first concert of the 2012-13 season when Music Director, Mark Fitz-Gerald, was indisposed. More recently, he presided over the FSO Strings' performance in the historic Wind Tunnel earlier in the summer. Ben is increasingly gaining recognition as an inspiring and versatile conductor. He is acclaimed for his innovative and imaginative programming, in particular with the Orchestra of St Paul's, a dynamic professional chamber orchestra based in Covent Garden, of which he is Artistic Director. In addition to his work with OSP, he is in demand as a guest conductor with orchestras throughout the UK and abroad. He will be taking up the baton for the FSO's concert on 17th January 2015.
