March Concert - 2011/12 Season - Matinee Performance

17 March 2012

Carl Davis : The General

Our March concert is a very special event, believed to be unique among amateur orchestras in the UK. The soloist will be... a silent film by Buster Keaton. The orchestra will provide simultaneous live accompaniment to the 1927 silent film. A romantic comedy set during the American civil war, it features some of the most dangerous (and explosive) stunts with steam trains ever filmed. Carl Davis' score includes every famous civil war song you could ever know as well as a tender folk song the composer's grandmother used to sing him when he used to sit on her knee!

The Live Cinema presentation of The General by arrangement with Photoplay Productions and The Douris Corporation. The Live Cinema presentation of The General was originally produced by David Gill and Kevin Brownlow. Photo courtesy of Photoplay Productions.

Please note that this is the MATINEE PERFORMANCE.
