Thursday 8 May 2008: Royal Opera House Debutante to feature in FSO Concert

The Farnborough Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Mark Fitz-Gerald, is to return to the Princes Hall, Aldershot, at 7.45pm on Saturday 14th June, for the final concert of its highly successful 2007/08 season. The programme features operatic soloist, Gaynor Keeble, who will be performing Elgar’s evocative song cycle, Sea Pictures. Gaynor, who won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music before launching her career as an operatic soloist, has reached the semi-finals in two major international opera competitions and won the London Lieder Prize in 2001. Earlier this year, she made her debut at the Royal Opera House in David McVicar’s production of The Magic Flute. In the second half of the concert, the orchestra will perform Sibelius’ exciting Symphony No.1. Described as being “full of unrestrained strength, passionate vivacity and astonishing audacity", this work promises to bring the FSO season to a triumphant conclusion. The programme opens with Wagner’s Overture Die Meistersinger and includes the Walk to the Paradise Garden by Delius.
